Payback Mode

A mode you can apply to a credit card or loan account you’re paying back over time.

Credit cards in Payback Mode still have their transactions processed on the Roo card-sorter screen. When you swipe one to a budget pouch, the money moves from that pouch into your Payback Pouch — setting aside the funds to pay the card back.

Loans in Payback Mode work differently: Roo does not process the loan’s individual transactions. The loan is paid down from the Payback Pouch, typically prioritized through your Payback Plan.

A credit card stays in Payback Mode whether you’re paying down a balance or clearing it in full each month — it is never On Budget (its spending reserves the cash to pay it). See Credit Card Strategy.
